The course is designed to allow the student to study Italian starting from his/her present level through regularly structured classroom activity that represents the base for specific task oriented projects, facilitating and utilising at its utmost the opportunity of on-site learning.
The student, in fact, will follow theoretical lessons and be given assignments to carry out in the community that will necessarily need the use of the language, experience that in turn will be object of analysis and discussion in the classroom. The language is expression of the culture that will be introduced through different aspects of its history, art, music, food, social system and structure.
This will happen in the Southern Italian context, where the Ancient Greeks expanded Hellenism as early as 750 B.C., where Pompei was destroyed in 79 A.D. and Hannibal tried to defeat Rome.
